The Dandenong Town Hall has always been a major part of the life of Dandenong. It has once again taken centre stage and its Drum Theatre now hosts more than 200 performances and 100,000 visitors annually. The building is a landmark with its combination of the restored elegance of the 1890 building with striking, contemporary architecture. The entire 530 seat auditorium, stage and fly tower is encompassed in a rich red oval drum, the work of Williams Ross Architects. The theatre has been built and equipped to industry benchmark standards and has been a dream of the region’s performing arts community for many years. Greater Dandenong now has a venue the entire community can be truly proud of, providing a unique opportunity for people from all walks of life to watch, enjoy and participate in the arts The theatre is available to schools, dance and calisthenics groups, community groups and performance companies for their own events.
