About Jim:

I am a proud Dandenong resident who has called this great city home for more than 40 years.

Like many people who live in the City of Greater Dandenong I was born overseas. I moved to Australia from Albania when I was two and I have forged a great life for myself and my family.

I live in Dandenong South with my wife Mary. We have three adult children and three grandchildren who I am very proud of. I am a self-employed businessman who believes that by working hard and working together we can all achieve great things.

I was first elected to Council in 2005, driven by a desire to change perceptions of Dandenong.

During my time on Council I have been privileged to be involved in a number of key milestones for this city.

From the Revitalising Central Dandenong Project, which saw the State Government invest $290 million in Dandenong, to the redevelopment of the Noble Park Aquatic Centre and Tatterson Park in Keysborough, our city continues to evolve and grow.

In addition to these major achievements I am most proud of the $65.5 million Dandenong Civic Centre completed in 2014.

During my previous mayoral terms in 2010 and 2014 I was a strong advocate for a new municipal building to be built in the heart of Dandenong..

To see this project come to fruition in my last mayoral term was a real highlight for me.  The five-storey building not only houses a new Council chamber and Council offices but it also home to one of Australia’s premier and most frequented libraries.

The Dandenong Civic Centre is a real jewel in Dandenong’s crown and is something Council and the broader community should be very proud of.

As I enter my third mayoral term I am pleased to be part of the Springvale Precinct Project. This significant Council investment will see the site of the former Springvale council offices transformed into a world-class community facility, providing a variety of learning, leisure and cultural spaces.

I look forward to leading this community in the year ahead and I am committed to achieving the best results possible for everyone who lives and works in Greater Dandenong.
