Liberty Swing

The Liberty Swing is a revolutionary concept in playground swing equipment for people with disabilities. It enables children and adults in wheelchairs to enjoy the fun and recreation of swinging.

The swing requires an MLAK to be unlocked and fully operational. If you require an MLAK you can borrow one from one of our customer service centres.

Instructions on how to use the liberty swing are located on a sign posted at the site of swing.

What is the Liberty Swing?

The Liberty Swing is a revolutionary concept in playground swing equipment that accommodates the needs of people with mobility difficulties or using a wheelchair.  It enables children and adults to enjoy the fun and recreation of swinging whilst still being included in the outdoor recreational area. 

The Liberty Swing has a number of special features that make it both safe and simple to use, including an access ramp, a wheel locking mechanism, pop up seat for people with mobility impairments, safety harness and it is compliant with relevant Australian Standards.

How does the Liberty Swing work?

The swing requires an MLAK to be unlocked and fully operational. This key opens all Liberty Swings throughout Australia and is available for loan for an unconditional length of time, free of charge.

Once you have a key you can access the swing at any time. You can borrow a key from one of our customer service centres.

There are instructions for use at the Liberty Swing and also in the video below. Please follow these conditions to ensure your safety and maximum enjoyment. Users accept that they use this facility at their own risk.

The City of Greater Dandenong and its employees and agents accept no liability for loss or injury occurring on this facility. Only one person is allowed on the swing at any one time. Please ensure the ramp is securely locked following use.
