Afghan Rahimi Restaurant

Afghan Rahimi offers the highest calibre Afghani cuisine available in Melbourne. With over three decades of culinary experience between the two head chefs, they specialise in dishes such as 'maantu' dumplings and charcoal chicken skewers and everything comes freshly prepared.

Hot tip: Rahimi’s has fantastic vegetarian and vegan options and happily meet dietary needs.

This bakery is an institution and locally loved. Their Vietnamese bread roll 'Banh Mi Thit' was voted The Age 2013's winner for Melbourne's 10 best sandwiches and one of the best Banh Mi in Melbourne by Y.AMB magazine (image credit Y.AMB).

Hot tip: if you have more than two orders, write them down to speed things up.

Hot tip: collect their range of authentic gourmet pickles to create some fabulous dishes at home.

Started more that 40 years ago, this family business creates delicious homemade donuts. Made famous at the Victoria Market, our very own Dandenong Market has the business as a permanent feature. From only $1 each, they're a worth every bite.

Hot tip: these bundles of warm sugary goodness are made all day, but lunch time is the peak period if you want them super fresh.

Dandenong Pavilion

Famous for its burgers (voted the #1 burger by Good Food magazine) this Dandenong icon also specialised in steaks, pizzas and pastas. Owner Dani Zeni (also owns Grand Trailer Park Taverna) is committed to supporting local farmers and using the freshest ingredients.

Hot tip: ask for their secret burger menu for a burger lover's dream (you can thank us later!).

Ginger Jones

Inner city café culture reached Dandenong with the opening of Ginger Jones, where great coffee and smart modern Australian food comes in a contemporary semi-industrial setting. With tastes for all palette, they offer breakfast and lunch, as well as selected take away.

Hot tip: with the seasonal produce and a fresh, ever-changing menu, there is always something new so visit regularly

This fantastic restaurant specialises in Yum Cha, but are also famous for their roast pork and roast duck, home-style congee (rice porridge) with hunks of preserved egg and sugar cane prawns. With great menu choices and tastes, they won't disappoint.

Hot tip: if you are thinking of eating here on a Sunday, make sure you book as it gets busy.

Golden Lake Cakes and Roast

This is where you will find glazed peking duck and pork expertly cut up for you to enjoy straight away, or to take home and share with friends and family. They also offer big range of steamed, fried and baked delicious items from char sui bao, red bean sesame balls and egg custard tarts.

Hot tip: they sell over 150 peking ducks on a Saturday, so make sure phone ahead to place your order.

Kluska

Kluska offers the kind of welcoming reception you would expect when dining at a traditional Polish home. With dishes Pierogi (dumplings), cabbage rolls and duck in apple sauce, they offer a true taste of Poland.

Hot tip: 90 per cent of Kluska's dishes are gluten free and they have many vegetarian options, so a great choice if you are catering for a range of dietary requirements.

Lakshmi Vilas

Specialising in Indian food, this café is all about freshness, originality and taste, specialising in vegetarian food and meals for people with food intolerances. Their savoury and sweet treats have become the talk of the town, capturing the hearts of the adventurous palettes.

Hot tip: try a 'tiffin' (literal translation is 'snacks') for a fabulous tapas style lunch experience.

Maiwand Bakery

Maiwand's skilled bakers make bread on site in traditional clay ovens. The ovens are set up in the shop so customers are able to see the process from start to finish. They sells thousands of the flatbreads each week and that’s not surprising, because they are a bargain starting at just 75 cents.

Hot tip: you can have your bread made to order when you walk in the door.

Pamir

This well known Afghan and Uzbek restaurant providing traditional cuisine including skewers, dumplings, eggplant dishes and many more.

Rob's British Butcher

Rob Boyle has owned and operated Rob’s British Butchers for 30 years. It is known for specialising in black and white pudding and the infamous haggis. Its homemade UK produce, many of which are original recipes sought from back home fill the store with spicy aromas.

Hot tip: Try the Frittata and the great range of paleo salads. This deli is not located in the major activity, but is worth the trip to Gladstone Road.

Hot tip: make sure you try their award winning sourdough, which is made with a starter culture that over 100 years old.

Tengri Tag

Uncle's Smallgoods

Uncle’s has a smokehouse on site where Polish sausages, smoked ham and bacon are produced using traditional methods passed down from the previous owners. It is also a great place for a coffee and lunch with the café next door incorporating the smallgoods into the menu,

Hot tip: they smoke their meats weekly, so if you head down on a Thursday you'll get it super fresh.

Wisla Continental Deli
