Transfer a Food, Health or Accommodation Business Registration

If you are considering selling or buying a business which is registered with the City of Greater Dandenong, you need to transfer the registration.

If you are buying a business, we recommend organising a Council inspection and premises report prior to purchase.


Arranging a pre-purchase inspection

Make a request for an inspection by completing a application for premises inspection form (PDF - 85.7KB).

Fees: Contact Council for current inspection fees.

Once the inspection has been conducted, Council will respond in writing regarding the outcome of the inspection.


Transferring a registration

Council must be advised of the details of the new proprietor for transfer purposes.

Inform Council by filling in the relevant one of the following forms:

If you have a solicitor acting on your behalf, ensure that the application for premises inspection form is submitted with a cover letter from your solicitor on their letterhead.

Fees apply. Contact Council for current fees.The transfer fee is half of the annual registration fee.


Additional information for food businesses only:

Before a transfer can take place, the new proprietor is also required to submit their food safety program to Council for approval.  It is recommended you submit your Food safety program two weeks prior to the transfer of registration request.
