About Zaynoun:

I'm a local resident just like you. I was born in Dandenong and went to Mulgrave Primary School and Nazareth College, before completing a Bachelor of Commerce degree at Deakin University. Now I'm working and starting a family of my own right here in Silverleaf Ward.

Councillor Zaynoun Melhelm

As someone who cares deeply about our community I believe our council needs a someone who can listen to their concerns. My family taught me the importance hard work and getting the basics right. I believe that just as every household has to live within our means, so too must our local council.

I want to make sure that Greater Dandenong remains a great place to live, work and raise a family. I want to see families and households supported with goods and services that are delivered efficiently to keep the costs down. I'll work hard to:

  • make our streets and neighbourhood safe through better street lighting and removing rubbish and safety hazards
  • maintain the beauty of our parks and nature reserves by encouraging local community groups and families to participate in community planning days and other outdoor activities
  • create better services and community facilities by inviting the people who our services to help identify the opportunities to improve them without increasing their costs.

Committees, organisations and industry bodies Zaynoun represents as a Councillor:

  • Greater Dandenong Interfaith Network
  • Community Safety Advisory Committee
  • Young Leaders Ambassador
