Cultural Venue Hire

Walker Street Gallery and Arts Centre

Location: Corner of Walker and Robinson Streets, Dandenong

Walker Street Gallery and Arts Centre has a range of creative spaces available for hire. Rooms are available for hire seven days a week, from 7.30am to midnight.

Band Room
The Band Room is suitable for workshops and meetings up to 25 people and cocktail style functions up to 40 people.Trestle tables, chairs and a whiteboard are available for use. The room also features a self contained kitchen and toilet facilities.

Performing Arts Theatre
The Performing Arts Theatre is suitable for performances, rehearsals, dance groups, workshops and large meetings for up to 70 people. Trestle tables, chairs and a whiteboard are available for use. The room also features a 16 track audio desk, lighting grid with lamps and a fold down elevated seating system.

Gallery One
Walker Street Gallery & Arts Centre has a bright and versatile gallery space that is available for hire for exhibitions and special events. Please call the Gallery on 9706 8441 for further information about this space.

How to Hire a Room

Download and complete the Walker Street Gallery Application Form (Word 411KB) and email to Walker Street Gallery & Arts Centre at walkerstgallery@cgd.vic.gov.au

Once the Application Form is assessed, a Hire Agreement will be sent to the Hirer with a confirmation of the Hire Fee.

The Hirer must then:

  • Complete the Hire Agreement and return to Walker Street Gallery & Arts Centre
  • Pay the Hire Fee in full
  • Pay the After Hours Security Bond, if required
  • Complete a brief site induction, if required
  • Provide proof of currency for a Public Liability Insurance Policy to the value of $20 million

Please return your Application Form at least 30 days prior to the Hire Date. The Hire Fee and any After Hours Security Bond should be paid at least 20 business days prior to the Hire Date.

A booking is not confirmed until the Hire Agreement has been returned and required Fees and Bond have been paid.

Tentative bookings will only be held for a period of 7 days.

Changes to your booking will be accepted up to 7 days before the Hire Date.

If the Hirer terminates the Hire Agreement by notification in writing 14 days prior to the Hire Date, Council will refund the Hire Fee and Bond less a $35 administration fee. The Hire Fee and Bond will be forfeited if the Hirer terminates the Hire Agreement less than 14 days prior to the Hire Date.

 

 

Heritage Hill Museum and Historic Gardens

Location: Heritage Hill Museum and Historic Gardens are located at 66 McCrae Street, Dandenong.

Heritage Hill offers an opportunity for artists and community agencies to exhibit community exhibitions in a unique and historic setting in the heart of Dandenong. The site features three buildings of heritage significance and two acres of landscapes historic gardens. Heritage Hill has a number of smaller spaces available for hire that are perfect for self-contained meetings.

Heritage Hill Exhibition space

The exhibition space available for hire under the Community Exhibition Program is inclusive of Langley Gallery, the Master Bedroom and the Hallway.

The Langley Gallery
Room features include:

The Master Room
This space is ideal for small, intimate installations.

  • after hours alarm protection and security gallery staff to supervise the exhibition Tuesday to Friday 10am to 4pm

Drum Theatre

Drum Theatre is situated in the heart of Dandenong and is a short walk from the Dandenong train station and the Langhorne Place bus terminal. The building is a landmark with its combination of the restored elegance of the 1890 building with striking, contemporary architecture. The entire 521 seat auditorium, stage and fly tower is encompassed in a rich, red oval drum.

The theatre is available for hire to schools, dance groups, community groups and performance companies. It also offers an entertaining and challenging program of high quality performances for South East Melbourne to enjoy. Find out more about Theatre hire.
