Community Support Grants Program

The Community Support Grants Program allows community groups and organisations to apply for one-off grants of up to $20,000 to carry out projects, programs and events that will benefit the Greater Dandenong community.

Community Support Grants Program Round 1, 2019

Important Dates

Applications must be submitted by the closing date. Late applications will not be accepted.  

Opening Date:       Monday 29 July 2019
Closing Date: Midnight Sunday 25 August 2019
Notification of Outcome:       December 2019
Project Period Starts: 1 January 2020
Project Period Ends: 31 December 2020
Acquittal Report Due: 1 month after project completion

Annual Council Priorities for 2019

The following annual priorities for 2019 are for projects that have a specific focus on achieving one or more of these goals:

  • Applications under $7,500.
  • Applications from New and Emerging Groups (in existence for up to three years).
  • Projects that focus on strengthening young people’s sense of community belonging.
  • Projects that focus on promoting gender equity, and support the right of women to engage and participate equally in all aspects of community life.
  • Projects that focus on encouraging respect and reconciliation between indigenous and non-indigenous Australians.
  • Projects that focus on building lifelong community learning and skills development.
  • Projects that support LGBTI recognition, inclusion and community understanding.

Grants Information Sessions run for one hour and aim to cover:

  • Council Grants programs available to the wider community
  • The Grants Cycle and Timeframes
  • Completing the online form
  • Resources

Three Council Information Sessions will be held on:

  • Tuesday 30 July, 1.30pm-3pm - Formal Meeting Room, Dandenong Civic Centre, 225 Lonsdale Street, Dandenong

  • Thursday 8 August, 1pm-2.30pm - Function Room 2, Paddy O’Donoghue Centre, 18-32 Buckley Street, Noble Park

  • Tuesday 20 August, 6pm-7.30pm - Formal Meeting Room, Dandenong Civic Centre, 225 Lonsdale Street, Dandenong

Start Planning you Project

In preparing for the next grants round, it is ideal to start planning your project well before grant rounds are open. We have made a number of support templates and documents available to the community on the 'Grant Resources' webpage to help organisations effectively plan for projects, programs and events.

Council encourages community organisations to discuss projects, eligibility and the online application form with the Community Funding Support Officers throughout February before the closing date.

Online Application Process

All grant applications must be made online. The online application form will be made available for preview on our website early July. The application form will be made available when the Round opens on Monday 29 July 2019.
