Preventing Car Theft
Operation Bounce Back - Car Security. Act Now.
The City of Greater Dandenong has joined forces with the National Motor Vehicle Theft Reduction Council to promote a public awareness campaign to reduce car theft.
Operation Bounce Back is designed to educate the community about car theft and the role individuals can play in preventing it.
Car security begins at home, watch this video for some helpful tips.
Statistics show that most cars are stolen close to home, with 75 per cent of cars stolen from driveways, garages and outside your property.
Council will be working with Victoria Police and Neighbourhood Watch to spread the word to the local community.
The campaign aims to achieve an overall reduction in car theft in Greater Dandenong through spreading the following key messages:
- Provide a clear line of sight from your house to the street.
- Lock all doors and windows, including access to your garage.
- Consider installing security lighting and a home alarm system.
- Be a good neighbour - If you notice any suspicious activity report it immediately to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or your local police station.
