Recycling takes centre stage in Greater Dandenong
23 February 2017
Council will take recycling to a whole new level in Greater Dandenong next month.
In a bid to encourage residents to recycle unwanted household items Council will be introducing two new recycling initiatives in March.
The first being two Pop-up Drive thru Recycling Days and the second being a one-off kerbside collection service called Homecycle.
The additional collection day will be held the day after your recycling bin is emptied between the dates of 20 March and 1 April.
Residents are being asked to put smaller items such as clothes and books in a bag and place them in their recycling bin for this one-off special collection.
For larger items that will not fit in your recycling bin residents are also being encouraged to take advantage of the Pop-up Drive-thru Recycling Days in Dandenong and Springvale.
Residents will be able to dispose of everything from bicycles and mattresses to prams and electronic goods.at the drive-thru sites.
There is a limit of 15 items and they must be brought in a car or a trailer as this is a drive-thru service only.
The drive-thru days will be held on:
Greater Dandenong Mayor Councillor Jim Memeti said these free one-off services were for City of Greater Dandenong residents only.
“This is a great opportunity to clear some space around the house, reduce landfill and give unwanted items a new life,” he said.
“Some items will be donated to charities while others will be recycled to create new products.”
