Entries Now Open for Short Cuts Film Festival 2018

23 November 2017

Calling all new and experienced film makers – Short Cuts Film Festival is back for 2018.

Entries are now open across the following three categories:

  • Emerging – current or recent film graduates with less than five years’ experience
  • Community/Student – primary and secondary students and people with no professional filmmaking training
  • Open – professional film makers

Now in its third year Short Cuts is an opportunity for local community members, emerging artists and accomplished industry professionals to share their stories.

Short Cuts 2018 will once again be curated by Richard Moore and will screen at Dandenong’s Drum Theatre on Saturday, 23 June 2018.

Prizes will be awarded for each category winner, as well as a Mayoral Prize for $3000.

An exciting new addition to the festival is the Shorter Cuts Junior Film Festival.

This specially curated G-rated screening of films, submitted as part of Short Cuts, will cater for a younger audience and is aimed at primary and secondary school students.

Shorter Cuts Junior Film Festival will be screened on Tuesday, 26 June 2018, also at Dandenong’s Drum Theatre.

Greater Dandenong Mayor Councillor Youhorn Chea said the festival had gone from strength to strength, attracting more than 700 entries last year.

“It is the ideal festival for exposing our local audience to international films and for identifying untapped local talent in the filmmaking industry,” Cr Chea said.
