Out and About at Walker St Gallery in Dandenong
26 March 2018
Urban landscapes are the inspiration for the latest exhibition to grace the walls of Walker St Gallery in Dandenong.
Seaford-based artist Hans Schiebold uses his art to take people on a journey through everyday life.
His exhibition called Out and About focuses on the objects and landscapes that are seen in neighbourhoods but often get overlooked.
Schiebold said this series of paintings that will feature as part of the exhibition present the way he would like people to see the places they live.
He said his work focused on the beauty of the backstreets and the more subtle details of a building that reflect a particular period in time.
“Once we cast our eyes away from obvious we observe our surroundings and notice its inner beauty,” Schiebold said.
“My vision of life in the suburbs of Melbourne under the canopies of trees and the ever brilliant blue sky are preserved in these works.”
Schiebold is a former ship’s captain who migrated to Australia from Germany more than 30 years ago.
He is now a full-time artist who is inspired by the small highlights of the urban landscape.
Out and About opens at Walker St Gallery on Thursday, 5 April and runs until 28 April.
The gallery is open from Tuesday to Friday, 11am to 5pm and Saturday 11am to 3pm.
