Operation Bounce Back

Operation Bounce Back

09 July 2018

Statistics show that 75 per cent of stolen cars are taken while parked close to home, including driveways, garages and streets outside your property.

Council has joined with the National Motor Vehicle Theft Reduction Council for Operation Bounce Back, a campaign to promote ways to help make cars safer and prevent car theft.

Council continues to work with Victoria Police and Neighbourhood Watch to share tips and tricks with the Greater Dandenong community to help residents protect their cars.

Community stalls at Dandenong, Springvale and Noble Park train stations will help spread the message, while an animated video will show on the Urban Screen in Harmony Square to help spruik top safety tips.

The key messages include:
• Provide a clear line of sight from your house to the street
• Lock all doors and windows, including internal access to your garage
• Consider installing security lighting and a home alarm system
• Be a good neighbour – if you notice any suspicious activity report it immediately to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or your local police station.

Community stalls will be held at:
• Dandenong Train Station, on Tuesday 10 July, from 8.30am-10.30am
• Springvale Train Station, on Monday 16 July, from 1pm-3pm
• Noble Park Train Station, on Wednesday 25 July, from 8.30am-10.30am
