Celebrate Greater Dandenong's unsung heroes

30 August 2018

Nominations are now open for the 2019 Greater Dandenong Australia Day Awards.

If you know someone who is making a positive difference in the local community this is your chance to celebrate them.

Proudly supported by Leader Community Newspapers, the awards recognise the exceptional contribution, hard work and dedication of people who work tirelessly for the good of the Greater Dandenong community.

Greater Dandenong Mayor Councillor Youhorn Chea said there are many people in the local community who work selflessly to enrich the lives of others.

“These awards pay homage to those people who give up their own time to make a positive difference to our community,” he said.

“Greater Dandenong is a diverse and vibrant community because of the people who live within it. Often these people go about their lives doing amazing things but with little recognition.

“The Greater Dandenong Australia Day Awards are Council’s way of saying thank you and acknowledging the ongoing contribution these people make.”

Nominations are now open across the following seven categories:

  • Citizen of the Year
  • Young Leader of the Year (under 25)
  • Volunteer of the Year
  • Leadership Award
  • Multicultural Award
  • Sportsperson of the Year
  • Corporate Citizen of the Year

People have until Friday 2 November at 5pm to submit nomination forms.

Winners will be decided by a community panel and presented with their awards during the Greater Dandenong Australia Day celebrations on 26 January at Dandenong Park.
