Short Cuts Film Festival Back for 2019

26 March 2019

Calling all new and experienced filmmakers – Short Cuts Film Festival is back for 2019.

Now in its fourth year the short film festival provides a platform for local community members, emerging artists and accomplished professionals to tell their stories.

Greater Dandenong Mayor Councillor Roz Blades said the festival provided a fantastic opportunity to unearth new talent in the film industry.

“The City of Greater Dandenong is gaining a strong reputation amongst film makers both as a film location and a place for emerging filmmakers to have their work celebrated.

“Last year this festival received almost 2000 entries from across the globe including Nepal, Iran, Romania and Latvia,” Mayor Blades said.

Short Cuts will be curated by Richard Moore and screened at Drum Theatre on Saturday, 5 October.

Shorter Cuts 2019, featuring short films by young filmmakers, will also screen at Drum Theatre on Sunday, 6 October.

Submissions are now open across all categories and close on 2 July.

The categories include:

• Emerging – current or recent film graduates with less than five years’ experience
• Community/Student – primary and secondary students and people with no professional filmmaking training
• Open – professional film makers

Entries are $10 or free to residents of the City of Greater Dandenong.

More than $5000 in cash prizes is also on offer across all categories.
