Animal De-sexing and Vaccination

According to Veterinarians, vaccination is the only sure way to protect your pet against disease. Dogs and cats can be affected by a number of viral infections, such as Canine Distemper, Hepatitis and Parvovirus or Feline Enteritis and Cat Flu (Feline Respiratory Disease).

Treating disease can provide some relief but it is costly and not always successful. The only effective form of protection is vaccination.

A schedule of current fees is available from your local veterinarian, or the Australian Veterinarians Association.

There are many reasons why de-sexing a pet is a responsible choice for pet owners, including medical benefits, positive behavioural changes and a discount on your pet registration.

To find a local veterinarian who can de-sex your pet visit the Australian Veterinarian Association website or the Sensis Business Directory.

People with a pet registered in the City of Greater Dandenong who receive a pension under the Social Security Act 1947 or the Veterans Entitlements Act 1986, are eligible to receive a reduction on the cost of desexing their dog or cat. Persons who have received remissions on council rates may also be eligible.
