Neighbourhood Shopping Precincts

Supporting our local shops is a great way of keeping money in the local economy. Greater Dandenong is home to 43 smaller shopping areas comprising a total of 398 shops, 2093 car parks and 68, 657 sqm of space contributing an estimated $70 million in annual turnover to the economy. Some of these centres include:

Brady Road, Dandenong North

Brady Rd shopping centre provides a mix of goods and services to the local residential area. There is also a large car park across the street providing substantial parking for this centre. A rejuvenation project in 2002 presented an opportunity to build on the strengths of the shopping centre and create a distinctive setting for the pleasure of shoppers and traders.

Harrisfield, Noble Park

Harrisfield Shopping Centre consists of two sections. One includes a very large grocery store, a pharmacy, a newsagent, and a café. The smaller section is located further west along Princes Hwy and recently had streetscape works giving the centre a facelift.

Hemmings Street, Dandenong North

Hemmings Street shopping centre is a large centre with a range of products for local residents including hairdressers, a bakery and cake store and even a pet food store. It also offers two hobby speciality stores that bring people into the area. With ample parking and close proximity to Dandenong West Primary School, it provides a convenient shopping destination for parents.

Kingsclere (Kingsclere Ave and Corrigan Road Keysborough)

Kingsclere Shopping Centre is a vibrant and well functioning centre, providing the local community with all its daily needs. The centre provides an excellent mix of goods and services and is easily accessible by public transport. With extensive car parking, this centre is mainly under the one roof providing a more relaxed neighbourhood centre experience than a large shopping centre that is close by.

Menzies Avenue, Dandenong

Menzies Avenue, given its location and store mix, serves as a true “neighbourhood centre”. There are a number of fresh food stores, plus other goods and services that allow most residents nearby to take care of the majority of their day to day shopping. The centre is right next to a number of community uses, further enhancing its focal point in the community.

Outlook Drive, Dandenong

Outlook Drive is the primary shopping centre in Dandenong North. The centre contains a good mix of retail and services along with one grocery business. Parking is plentiful and it is easily accessed by bus. The centre has limited access by a major road so it is supported by the local residential area and those wanting specialty goods and services.

Railway Parade, Noble Park

There is a good variety of stores at Railway parade, providing services as well as extensive food. There is takeaway food, a bakery, a grocery store and butcher, many of which are Halal. Close to Yarraman station, it has excellent road access and is right near Noble Park Secondary College. The branding of this centre with a palm tree gives the centre its own unique identity.

Sandown Village (Police Road), Springvale

Sandown Village is directly across from Wellington Secondary College and is heavily used by the students and thier parents. The centre has good bus access because of the school’s proximity. The low speed zone around the school makes it easier to get in and out of the car parking along this busy road which provides high visibility to the centre.

Springvale South (Cnr Springvale Road and Athol Road) Springvale

Springvale South is a very large centre that appears smaller at first glance than it actually is. The centre is comprehensive offering goods, services and community functions (place of worship) and is located across from Springvale South Primary school. The centre’s size is not first apparent when driving along Springvale Rd, but as you turn down Athol Rd there is a lot more retail behind the shops facing onto Springvale Road.

Springvale North (Cnr of Springvale and Princes Highway & Police Road) Springvale

This centre is very large and is on the corner of a major intersection. This centre supports a number of national retailers and is home to a large supermarket and major restaurant franchises. There is a large internal car park for these shops accessed either from Springvale Road or Princes Highway. The centre provides convenience to the local residents and passer by at this high profile intersection.

Springvale Plaza, (Heatherton Road Springvale)

Springvale Plaza is ideally placed on Heatherton Road, just off Springvale Road. The centre has extensive car parking for these businesses. Included in the mix is a very large function centre, restaurant, place of worship and other retailers, including an Aldi supermarket.
