Waste and Recycling

Community Waste Education Programs

The City of Greater Dandenong delivers a range of community waste and recycling education programs within the municipality. To enquire about any of our Waste Education Programs, please contact Council.

Follow Your Waste tours

Have you ever wondered what happens to your recycling, household rubbish and garden waste once it leaves your bin? Would you like to learn more about reducing your waste going to landfill and how to become a better recycler?

Follow Your Waste tours are conducted several times a year. These tours allow the community to visit the Polytrade Recycling Facility, a landfill site and a green waste composting facility.

The visit explains how things are sorted and recycled and how items then go on to be made into new products, demonstrating how recycling correctly can make a huge difference to the whole process.

Waste and recycling workshops

Council hosts a number of waste workshops each year.

They are a great opportunity to learn how to reduce what you send to landfill in a hands-on environment.

The workshops cover a range of themes, including:

  • recycling art

  • composting

  • cutting food waste out of your garbage bin
