Regional Food Strategy 2015-18


The City of Greater Dandenong Regional Food Strategy aims to maximise the future economic and community benefits embedded in the local and regional food system.

Many food processing and food manufacturing businesses cite strategic considerations for locating within Greater Dandenong. These include its proximity to Gippsland, metro Melbourne and publicly funded research infrastructure.

The strategy also addresses issues around access and affordability of fresh and healthy food, and work continued on the development of a demonstration food garden to be located in central Dandenong.

In conjuction with the strategy, the Greater Dandenong food brand was launched in March 2015. The branding has been applied to the municipal entrance flags, the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival events and other food programs and initiatives.
