Zip Me Up by Giovanna Inserra
'Zip Me Up' has taken centre stage in the laneway off Douglas Street in Noble Park, between the Noble Park Cellars and the Commonwealth Bank.
Council commissioned Melbourne artist Giovanna Inserra to complete the work which consists of a 21-metre golden zipper along the full length of the laneway, providing a unique point of interest for people making their way to Douglas Street from a key public car park.
The work is inspired by the idea of how precious feelings of connection to the past can help foster new beginnings in the present.
“Zip Me Up celebrates how precious feelings of connection to the past can help foster new beginnings in the present,” Inserra said.
The artwork was fabricated offsite from a moulded plastic that can be manipulated into different shapes.
