Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update - Greater Dandenong Libraries

Staff are working hard to reopen the Dandenong Library as soon as possible, ensuring that appropriate safety precautions are in place for your wellbeing. The Dandenong Library after hours book chute is now open and other services statuses are shown below.

Library Services Delivery Update

Our services are either being offered in full (Green), in a modified delivery method (Amber), or have been suspended until further notice (Red). See the following information for the status of each service.

Red: Services are not being offered due to Coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions or safety concerns.

Amber: Services are being offered but with restrictions or via a different delivery method.

Green: Services are being offered as normal.

Free downloadable eBooks, Audiobooks, online newspapers, magazines and comics.

Devices/platforms supported may include Windows, Apple, iOS, Android, Nook, Kindle Fire. Please refer to the support/help information in each service for more detail.

Free Home Delivery Service

A new service that we’re offering to our wonderful Greater Dandenong library members, in support of social isolation directives.

We miss seeing you in our libraries and we are so happy to be able to deliver books to your home.

Choose your own items or request a BookMatch Plus, where staff will make a selection based on your request. You will receive a book delivery from us within 10 working days from lodgement.

Complete this form and a Librarian will contact you to arrange your free contactless home delivery of library items.

Join the Library

Join the library online to access online services.

New members can join online. You will receive a WEB User ID number by email. This will give you access to the wide range of free online resources* available 24/7. (*Not all resources are available to online memberships).


If your WEB User ID does not let you access an online resource you are interested in, please use our Ask a Librarian service and a Librarian will contact you with a new membership number which will grant you full remote access until 30 September 2020.

Online services continue to be available 24/7.

If you recently joined the library online and received a WEB ID that does not let you access your desired online service, please contact the library via our Ask a Librarian online form and a librarian will contact you regarding upgrading to a full library membership initially until 30 September.

Returns Chute at Dandenong Library

The 24 hour returns chute at Dandenong Library is now open. Please note that items returned through the chute will remain visible on your checkouts for 72 hours due to the quarantining process.

The returns chute at Springvale Library is closed until further notice.

Learning Help for Adults

Help with resumes, forms, letters, assignments or general questions is still available by phone or by email.

Please phone the library on 1300 630 920 Monday to Friday 9am–5pm (excluding public holidays) to leave your name and phone number or email to get help.

Staff will contact you by phone or by email within 48 hours.

 

Library Tech Assist

If you need help setting up your devices to use our online resources or general support with your technology, phone the libraries on 1300 630 920 Monday to Friday 9am-5pm (excluding public holidays) for a referral to our Online Library Tech Assist service.

Loans/Checkouts

All checkouts have been extended to 31 July 2020, which will be reviewed and extended as required.

Suggest a Title

We are accepting eBook and Audiobook suggestions only until further notice.

What's on in the Libraries

Dandenong and Springvale Libraries are closed until further notice due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Computer and WiFi access in the Libraries is currently unavailable as the libraries are closed until further notice.

Holds/Reservations

The holds/reservation service has been suspended until further notice.

Interlibrary Loans

Victorian libraries have suspended Interlibrary Loans until further notice.

Language and Literacy Drop-in and One-on-One Sessions

Drop-in sessions for help with resumes, forms, letters, assignments or general questions are suspended until further notice.

Returns Chute at Springvale Library

The 24 hour returns chute at Springvale Libraries is closed until further notice. The Dandenong Library returns chute will be open from Monday 1 June.
