Celebrate the school holidays with the Carnival of Puppets

24 June 2013

The City of Greater Dandenong is pleased to announce that some of Australia’s most preeminent puppeteers will be performing at Dandenong and Springvale Libraries these July school holidays.

The libraries’ Carnival of Puppets program will include shows by Dream Puppets, Red Herring Theatre and Purple Capsicum Puppets.

Greater Dandenong Mayor Angela Long said that the carnival will offer an entertaining free program for children aged five and over that all families can enjoy.

“Primary school aged children are sure to be entertained by the variety of events taking place at Greater Dandenong’s libraries, including incredible puppet shows, film screenings, puppet making and puppet play activities.

“School holidays are a time when many parents are in search of interesting activities that will keep their children engaged and entertained.

“The City of Greater Dandenong is pleased to present this wonderful opportunity for our young residents to develop and nurture their creative skills.

“This great event is a fantastic place for children to make new friends and learn all about the different facets of puppetry. I encourage all our children to attend!”

The Carnival of Puppets will take place from 2 July until 12 July, and does not require bookings.

“In an effort to support working parents in Greater Dandenong, two of the events have been scheduled at time that will make it possible for parents employed full time to attend with their children,” added Cr Long.

The Carnival of Puppets will be held at Dandenong Library, located at Stuart Street in Dandenong, and Springvale Library, located at 411 Springvale Road in Springvale.
