On the move for Youth Week 2017
30 March 2017
As part of National Youth Week celebrations, the City of Greater Dandenong will be hosting a soccer tournament and dance competition to engage young people who live, study or work in Greater Dandenong.
The YOUTH UP breakdancing competition and Street Style Your Style’ soccer tournament will offer young people the chance to make the most of the last day of the Term 1 school holidays on Friday April 7.
Greater Dandenong Mayor Councillor Jim Memeti said these two events were a chance for our city’s young people to get together in a safe, positive and supportive environment.
“We’d love to have as many people as possible get involved this week as we celebrate the contribution our young people make to the life of our vibrant city,” Cr Memeti said.
The breakdancing competition will be held in Harmony Square between 1pm and 5pm.
Accompanied by DJ Tofu mixing on the decks, special guest judges will award fantastic prizes for winners in each of the two age categories, 12 to 17 and 18 to 25.
The competition will be streamed live on the Urban Screen.
Registration will open at 12pm on the day, although participants can pre-register at www.youth.greaterdandenong.com
Participants can compete in the men’s, women’s or general youth category.
Presented in partnership with the Melbourne Victory Football Club and supported by the Entrepreneurship Movement Club, the tournament will take place between 9am-6pm.
