Free Parking Introduced in Central Dandenong

25 June 2019

A one year trial offering free parking along Lonsdale Street in central Dandenong will begin in July.

Parking on both sides of Lonsdale Street, between Foster and Clow streets will be free for motorists, however time restrictions will still apply.

Greater Dandenong Mayor Councillor Roz Blades said council was committed to supporting traders and visitors to central Dandenong.

She said anything that acted as an incentive for people to visit the area was a good thing.

“A rolling program of reduced fees, additional car parking spaces and time adjustments over the past year have helped improve access to Dandenong’s activity centre,” Mayor Blades said.

“We hope this latest trial will again encourage people to visit Dandenong. We offer a fantastic offering of shops and retail outlets and the area provides great opportunities to do business as well.”

Free footpath dining permits will also be offered to Lonsdale Street traders to encourage outdoor dining options. New permits and applications to expand the number of tables for footpath dining will be offered free for two years.
