Bushfire Update

22 January 2020

What Council is doing to help

Greater Dandenong City Council is actively working to support the bushfire affected communities.

Council is supporting the Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV) to coordinate statewide local government resources to be called upon as necessary. Staff are also supporting the cause by running various fundraising initiatives and volunteering for the CFA or SES.

Stakeholder Forum

Mayor Jim Memeti held a forum in February, which brought together some key community and business leaders to discuss what more the Greater Dandenong community can do together. The ideas from this forum will be shared in more detail, but included supporting the fire affected communities through local events; coordinating volunteers with trades to assist; and promoting tourism in East Gippsland.

Work is now underway to progress these and others.
